Sometimes life feels confined or restricted. The remedy can be as simple as expanding your view. This can be done in a lot of ways.
Take a new look around you at your current level. STOP and ask if your self talk includes negative or limiting beliefs. Look around and ask, “Is that really true?” “Could it be different?”
It doesn’t always mean looking farther out. Sometimes when we STOP and look closer, right here and now, we expand our view in a different way. We see things we might otherwise miss and can appreciate the current moment for what it is. Many experts agree that recognizing what you are grateful for right now is the key to happiness and further growth.
Looking up the trail can be fun! Instead of worrying what could go wrong at every corner, life can become more meaningful when we see the future with excitement and hope.
Seeing the bigger picture takes effort. You walk through life, looking down at the trail step by step. It’s important so that you notice holes or other dangers, but it’s also good to stop and see how far you’ve come! Instead of focusing on your sore feet, you can celebrate the beautiful sky and your expanded view!
You all know I love to hike! But I hope you see this as a metaphor for whatever areas of your own life could use a different view.
- -STOP (Stop, Take a deep breath, Observe your thoughts, feelings and body responses, Proceed with awareness). This is good in hard and easy times.
- -Be aware of, and question your negative self-talk.
- -Experience gratitude in the here and now. Look close at what’s right in your world.-See the future with excitement! Plan for good things to come.
- -Celebrate your successes
Here’s wishing you happy trails this week!
Love,Cristina
